Aniline

Growth rate for Aniline production has shown significant declines for the last several years due to large import volumes, while domestic demand continues to grow. However, domestic supply is inadequate and has lead to a widening of the demand-supply gap. India's production declined at a CAGR of 0.74 % and imports grew at a blistering rate of 35.98%.

The same pattern was repeated in FY 2013-14, where demand went up to 72,268 MT but the total annual production remained at around 56% of the figure. Since production rates have been falling in India, there has been an exponential rise in Aniline Imports.

As additives to rubber, Aniline derivatives such as phenylenediamines and diphenylamine are antioxidants. Drug prepared from aniline is paracetamol (acetaminophen, Tylenol). The principal use of Aniline in the dye industry is as a precursor to indigo.
